I have a sparkly costume for the Assistance League of San Bernardino’s upcoming Route 66: Life’s Highway, and am thankful to also have a sponsor for it. My costume sponsor is Tri-County Dental Society and they are a very special organization. Tri-County serves dentists in San Bernardino, Riverside and Los Angeles counties. Tri-County provides support to the community through their dentists who treat patients. They answer dental practice questions, help with ethical considerations and patient complaints. Tri-County is also a huge advocate of dental professionals volunteering in each county, and always encourage more volunteerism. The Kappa Delta’s of California State University San Bernardinohave announced their 3rd annual Shamrock 5K. The event’s purpose is to raise awareness and money for child abuse. Scenery and Course It’s not flat – so many folks find the course is interesting and enjoyable. There is a slight climb as you run/walk around the back of the CSUSB campus. The campus is nestled at the base of the San Bernardino mountains, so don’t be surprised if a bunny runs across the trail, or a hawk is circling overhead. Weather We are expecting high 60′s or low 70′s, with sunshine and a slight breeze. I’m not sure it can get any better! There is allot of work, engineering and creativity that happens prior to my wearing a headdress for the ALSB Headdress Ball. These headdresses are much heavier than the ones used in Vegas. Like 20-30 pounds heavier. So, a VERY TIGHT cinch is needed, to keep the headdress in place. A 3 foot bar is positioned in the back of the cinch, near the small of my back. FIrst the bar is placed in the cinch and measured to my height. Then it is bent to match my body type. After some welding, pounding and bending, the bar is placed back in my cinch. A sturdy helmet is then positioned on top of the bar, and the headdress is built out from there. What is important to note, is the helmet does not touch my ears, forehead or rest on my head.
