How I Benefitted By Being ‘Off My Game’

I’m off my game. I was travelling for over a week. The lectures were very interesting and inspiring, but my workout suffered. I did get on the treadmill or go for a walk on some days. But, on two days, all I did was sit on an airplane or in the airport. This was tough on the body. Along with wrecking my workweek workouts, my dietary habits went out the window. I ate well, but I increased snack and sweets. So, I’m home and back on a regular schedule, but was having a hard time leaving my desk for a lunchtime run. I know the ‘to-do’ pile will still be there – and it is never-ending. There is always something to do. I finally got back into scheduling my lunchtime exercise, but I didn’t have the desire to run and lift. I did however, have lovely walks (2 -3 miles...

I’m Going to Sparkle!

I have a sparkly costume for the Assistance League of San Bernardino’s upcoming Route 66: Life’s Highway, and am thankful to also have a sponsor for it. My costume sponsor is Tri-County Dental Society and they are a very special organization. Tri-County serves dentists in San Bernardino, Riverside and Los Angeles counties. Tri-County provides support to the community through their dentists who treat patients. They answer dental practice questions, help with ethical considerations and patient complaints. Tri-County is also a huge advocate of dental professionals volunteering in each county, and always encourage more volunteerism. Because the Headdress Ball primarily raises funds for a dental clinic, I’m super-duper happy about this sponsorship. When a...

VROOM! A Heart For Kids and The Community

I’m thrilled to have been asked to be a model in the Assistance League of San Bernardino’s upcoming Headdress Ball. First, because it’s a fun show and my amazing choreographer (Randy) has put together a very fun number! Secondly, the show raises money for uninsured children (5-18) to receive dental care and get out of pain. I’m especially thrilled to highlight my headdress sponsor: Toyota & Scion of San Bernardino, because the theme is Route 66: Life’s Highway. The owner, Mr. Cliff Cummings is very philanthropic. Besides supporting the Dr. Earl R Crane Children’s Dental Clinic, he has provided assistance to numerous other non-profit organizations. He really has a heart for kids, and also supports Santa Claus Inc. They have also sponsored Mr. Cardinal,...

Wedding Day Disasters

Wedding Day Disasters

What a horrible title topic huh? Well, they happen and you are here, curious whey I’m writing. In the last episode of Glee, two characters were planning a wedding. Last years cast came back for the ‘reunion’ show and there were a variety of songs at the wedding and the reception. One problem. The bride changed her mind, ran out the door and jumped in a taxi – big dress and all. After the groom was told, the next decision was about the reception. The parents of the bride already paid for the reception and the food, so they offered to have the party/reunion. Does this seem weird to anybody? Maybe. Maybe not. What should/would you do? A few years ago, my husband and I planned an anniversary weekend at the Mission Inn. As we were wandering...

Long Lost buddies

Long Lost buddies

Another social media success story. Thanks to Facebook, I like many others are back in touch with old friends. When I travel, I try to meet up with somebody in town if I have time. Last night I saw a long-lost friend Melanie, whom I had not seen for about 26 years. We first met as freshman in high school and were friends all four years, participating in drill team. You know, the girls that dance behind the band in parades or at the half time football game? That was us. She drove about 45 minutes to meet us for dinner – although I didn’t choose the restaurant well. We texted as she was on her way and changed from Bucca Di Peppos to one of our hotel eateries, since I had just arrived. It was a toss iup between Chinese (which had a quiet scene, but...

Marvelous mornings

Marvelous mornings

This morning’s sunrise was gorgeous. It was more than the sun’s rays; it was the mixture of clouds and sky that provided dancing colors to welcome the day. I have yet to decide if I prefer sunrises or sunsets. They are each special and unique. In the late fall or winter, it’s easier to be a part of the dark silent morning, as the earth slowly begins to wake up. Watching the morning morph from darkness into a kaleidoscope of color is always amazing. Mornings offer hope, just in their pure existence. The birds are singing their greeting to me as I go feed the horses. The horses seemed to sense the excitement of the morning today as well. They were playful and running around the arena, dancing in the morning sun. Every morning is a new beginning, a new hope, a new...
