5K For the Love of a Child

The Kappa Delta’s of California State University San Bernardinohave announced their 3rd annual Shamrock 5K. The event’s purpose is to raise awareness and money for child abuse. Scenery and Course It’s not flat – so many folks find the course is interesting and enjoyable. There is a slight climb as you run/walk around the back of the CSUSB campus. The campus is nestled at the base of the San Bernardino mountains, so don’t be surprised if a bunny runs across the trail, or a hawk is circling overhead. Weather We are expecting high 60′s or low 70′s, with sunshine and a slight breeze. I’m not sure it can get any better! Kinkades for a Cause

Thomas Kinkade died on Good Friday, April 6, 2012. I was sad, like I was with Steve Jobs. I will miss the creative genius and what else they could have shared with the world. I am a Kinkade fan and enjoy 2 of his paintings in my home. They hold different meanings to everybody, but ‘A Peaceful Retreat’ reminds me of my dad, who passed in 2003. I got ‘Perseverance’ after I lost my home and all my possessions in a fire. It seemed an appropriate reminder. Well, April happens to be child abuse prevention and awareness month and I have been focused on a fundraiser for Childhelp. For this reason , we decided to sell our Kinkade paintings on eBay and donate a portion of the proceeds to Childhelp. If you know a Kinkade fan, I have a great cause....

Mad Hatter: How crazy is your hat?

April is national child abuse prevention and awareness month. What are you doing on April 14 for lunch? I’ll be at a fashion show benefitting the children at the Childhelp Village. Yes, I will be wearing a hat. I haven’t chosen it yet, but I’m open to suggestions. A luncheon, fashion show, fresh baked goodies in ‘Grandma’s kitchen”, boutique shopping, and an AMAZING raffle with a $1,500 shopping spree, catered dinner for 10 and a spa gift certificate! Oh… You can’t make it because you live in British Columbia or Dubai? That’s ok. Remember #NoKid Hungry? Together we CAN make a huge difference. Children are suffering from a hidden epidemic of child abuse and neglect. Over 3 million reports of child abuse are...

Shamrock & Roll for Childhelp

The weather was perfect for the Kappa Delta 5K for Childhelp. Sunny, with a slight breeze. Last year, they raised over $11,000 toward the treatment and prevention of child abuse. They hope to raise more this year. But it was mire than a 5K, it was days of advocacy and awareness about child abuse and neglect. On Wednesday night, the men from the fraternity’s completed in a talent contest, on Thursday it was a visit to the Lisa Project. Visitors heard the story through children’s voices and on Friday night they gave power point educational presentations. The judges were provided by members of Childhelp Inland Empire:Tracy Wilhide, Jill Robinson, Jordyn Prather and JoAnn VonWald judged Wednesday night, and Tracy Wilhide, Joe Arnett, and Margie Arnett...
