I was determined to make 12.12.12 a unique day. I had nothing planned, so it was going to be spontaneous. I elicited ideas from Facebook, but I didn’t want to eat 12 donuts. Two days ago I wrote about thecorn crisis and how it is affected my favorite local Mexican restaurant on Facebook. The Mexico Cafe attempted to be upfront with customers about the rising corn costs and their decision to charge for a second bowl of chips. Customers left angry messages. They seemed offended by the increase. I get it, I don’t want my favorite things to cost more either. But, I also don’t know the financial situation of any business, but my own. There seems to have been an increase in spam and ‘chain letter’ type of things going around Facebook lately. “Please tell your friends to watch their walls, hackers are getting into accounts and posting porn or writing on your wall. My sources say there has been no recent rise in this activity. Just a chain letter. But, If you click the links to sex videos, expect to be hacked. I’ve seen ‘Facebook‘ will start charging for about a year. – There will be some optional pricing coming out soon for page owners, businesses, or profiles with something to showcase. ‘Your account is being shut off‘ emails are a phishing attempt. So, now you have a Facebook page.  Are you engaging these new fans?  The simple act of thanking your customers is, perhaps, the single most powerful and memorable marketing method available to you.   When you see them in person, you can look them in the eye and personally thank them for stopping in.   Do you thank your customers when they ‘like’ your Facebook page?   If not, now is the time to start.  Don’t become so busy that you neglect to personally acknowledge your customers-the very same people who make your growth and prosperity possible!
