Davion, at the age of 15 had given up on the foster care system finding him a forever, loving home.
I saw his picture and story last week. I read the story to my husband with tears in my eyes and a heart that was breaking for a soul with such potential. He just wanted somebody to love him. Damion just discovered his birth mother died in jail, and had no hope of a family reunification.
He stood up in church and said, “I’ve been in foster care since I was born… I know God hasn’t given up om me. So, I’m not giving up either. I’ll take anyone. Old or young, dad or mom, black, white, purple. I don’t care. And I would be really appreciative. The best I could be.”
His response: Contact that agency. You can’t help but want to respond to that kind of plea. RIght?
But, I knew geographically somebody closer and possibly already in the system would contact the Florida Department of Children’s Services. My heart was warmed to see within two days that this child had many interested families calling the foster family.
By the weekend, there were over 10,000 families wanting to adopt Davion.
I’m writing today, to share that there are thousands of children available for adoption in YOUR area, also wanting a home at w Childhelp
