Have you captured your business on Foursquare.com?

Foursquare is a location-based social networking site that most users use their mobile phones.  It was designed so you can see where your friends are located.   Each check-in generates points.  When a user checks into a business more than any other customer, they are ‘crowned’ the Foursquare Mayor.  Theoretically, this is your biggest fan, because this customer frequents your business regularly and tells others about it.  Often Foursquare users post their updates to both Facebook and Twitter – not just their Foursquare friends.

Foursquare users can earn badges from their check-ins as well.  Some badges are accomplishments (Gym Rat: 10 trips to the gym in a 30 day period), others are situational (Posting Happy New Year’s or Happy Halloween on that day), and then there are specialties like Bento ( 3 times at sushi),  Hot Tamale (Mexican restaurants), Wino (5 visits to wineries), 7-10 split (5 different bowling alleys), etc.   I’ve searched for nearby venues to see if there is a special for customers.  I frequent Souplantation more regularly, because of a 15% discount at check-in.  Some restaurants offer a free glass of wine to 1st time customers.  Discounts can be for your first time customers or your loyal Lucy’s. So get creative and join the fun!
