The 4/28/2012 Headdress Ball is just around the corner! Have you been to a Headdress Ball? Imagine beautiful model with a 5 to 20 foot scultpture on her head, while dancers twirl and glide around her to great music. For over 50 years, the Assistance League of San Bernardino has sponsored this fund-raising event for their local philanthropic efforts. This year, the event is called, “Hats Off to Our Community” and ALSB is featuring eight other local non-profits that also do fabulous work in the community.

The Headdress Ball dance rehearsals have been going very well, even with spring breaks and the Easter holiday. Some numbers have scheduled extra rehearsals – we want to be perfect! Carol Dixon, the Headdress Ball Director has been putting video clips together that will be show prior to each model’s number. She has also coordinated the show. She has worked on everything from Broadway, community college, community theater, children’s theater, state college shows and things in between! Those video clips will spotlight the eight charities that are joining us this year, along with Assistance League’s own philanthropies: the Dr. Earl R. Crane Children’s Dental Health Center (BTW: he was MY fabulous orthodontist!) and Operation School Bell – funds are raised for needy children to pick new school clothes and a backpack at Walmart.

There are some great gift baskets already created! Beauty & spa baskets, entertainment baskets & children centered baskets will be available for raffle. But, we are still looking for opportunity prizes, so if you own or manager a restaurant, spa, theater, jewelry store, hotel, or beauty salon, please contact Rosemary Martin or Elsa Carlton.

Guests will be entertained by Emil Marzullo and Wayne Austinas the emcees at the matinee.
Martha Green will be with us at the evening performance to emcee and facilitate the live auction.

If you can’t make the Ball, but would like to be a member of this great organization, please let us know. membership page & form
